How nice of the UK to start the ball rolling on national ID cards. As the article states, this is not simply to keep track of immigrants and to cut down on illegals staying in the country. In ten years the pink and sky-blue card will be carried by all UK citizens.
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, said it will enable people to prove identity “easily and securely”.
The card, similar to a credit card, includes a picture of the holder, name, status, benefit entitlement and anti-fraud measures.
